Pagoda as a trailer tractor?
« on: October 05, 2013, 18:02:01 »
This afternoon I spotted that Michal has parked his car in a quite specific company. This gave me the idea to think whether a Pagoda were ever used with a trailer of any kind. Here is what this would look like, more or less.... ;D

There was someone on this board at one point asking about fitting a trailer hitch on his Pagoda to hook up a small airstream caravan. Why not? In the same vein, I took this picture during my 2009 coast to coast trip with my Coupe:

My 124 pulls the boat quite easily. So, maybe Pagoda...

Here is my pagoda, in Canada circa 1970 with trailer on.  Towbar was long gone when I got the car, I think they got rid of it when the car came to NZ shortly after this.

Rutger,

This is outstanding, so actually my rather joking post has some grounds in the reality. I find that a cargo trailer attached to any convertible car is a mark of great autoirony and abnegation ;D
Great and unique picture. :)

I'm sure you could tow a T@B with a Pagoda. ALL Airstreams, in particular US ones, would be too heavy

(and yes, for a laugh, it would be tempting to tow a T@B with a Pagoda!)

That's right, and from now on it seems that this is the only type of photo one can ask for, since the chapter "request for a certain photo" in "way off topic" was closed ... so let's stay focus on trailer hitches and alike...

Back in August, 1971 I was visiting my aunt in the Netherlands, along with another aunt and uncle from the USA. We took a 10 day holiday to Italy; we left at about 4AM thinking we'd get a jump on weekend traffic. WRONG. The autobahn from Aachen south was jam-packed with all these caravans just like that pictured, and everyone going on holiday at the same time. I found it quite peculiar that everyone had essentially the same kind of caravan.

I am nor looking for that  :) Just couldn't imagine our dear Pagodas relegated to the role of a trailer. With photos posted by other members I was proven wrong, and after all, Pagodas keep their dignity despite that particular add-on behind...
BTW interesting video, thanks

good catch, however, really dedicated Pagoda campers should have a convexe roof. otherwise it is not really dedicated ;)

Nice catch, Boaty
Is the car really connected to the camper or is it just a "close encounter"?

On my way downtown a few days ago, I spotted something at a camper sales place and immediately this thread was reawakened in my mind.  I'm not a camper and never have been, but If I had a "Little Guy", I think I would attach it to my Pagoda and take a tour of North America just for the fun of it and the interesting people I would meet.

Check it out.  www.golittleguy.com .
