I really enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone and over-dosing on all the Pagodas at the P50 Williamsburg event. One such discussion was on the placement of the bright trim strip that goes between the two rear bumpers and forms a lower guide for a Euro number plate. I promised get the information but, unfortunately, have forgotten who wanted it. Hopefully he will see this post.
That trim strip is held on by two sliding clips on the back of the trim piece that hook into toothed brackets that are pop-riveted (no kidding) to the body panel. I bought replacements for everything in '04 and '05.
In case the photos don't come through, the M-B part numbers are as follows: Trim strip - 113 698 00 81; Sliding clips (2 req'd) - 113 698 00 14; Toothed body clips (2 req'd) - 001 988 54 78; Pop rivets (4 req'd) - 910001-003100 Those rivets came in a nice M-B bag. On inspection, I found that they were perfectly ordinary 1/8" X 1/4" long aluminum pop rivets!
