Paintings of Pagoda
« on: November 18, 2013, 15:44:02 »
I know a couple of times people have provided details on Pagoda painters… this Dutch gentleman (Onno van Beek) has made some lovely car paintings… see his website: http://www.carpaintings.nl/Welcome_2.html

The Pagoda picture is for sale but he can also do commission work. His rates are published here: http://www.carpaintings.nl/pricelist_workwise.html

Usual disclaimers apply, I have no affiliation with Onno. Garry may actually like this one as well:

Last week our daughter visited from London, UK and I took a trip to Ann Arbour MI, since she had business there. I took the opportunity to visit with Michael S. and family while there I purchased a copy of Mr. Bracq’s first Giclée edition print 6/150.

Thanks again Michael for a great visit. Now that my daugther is back in England I found time to take Mr. Bracq’s Print to the Framer. I cannot wait until it is ready March 10th and hang it up in my Man Cave :)

I love it since the color is close to my "Blue Tornado"

Once it is on the wall I shall take a picture of the backing and frame I chose.

PS. I guess now I have to find European headlights and get rid of the US bumper (front and back) to make my car in the garage look like this faboulus print of a great painting. Or will anyone know the difference when I invite them for a game of chess or my favourite hockey / soccer team. I wonder.

Frank,

There is an airbrush shop here that's local to me where my grandson's girlfriend works. You send them a photo and they hand-paint your image on a shirt or anything you want. Mine was a gift but they did a shirt for Norm from the photo above for about $60 I believe. Norm...do you recall the price? If not, I can ask.

I can't remember the exact price but I do remember that I had them special order the shirts I wanted from LL Bean.  They were very easy to work with.

Hi Peter, Kevin, Mike, Stan, et al.

I detect some talk of t-shirts, etc.

I have been noodling over the past months on an abstract logo for a hat or a shirt that I'd be interested in.  Something abstract, unobvious, and exclusive that would keep people guessing, rather than a picture of a car.  I am, after all, driving the artwork.

I'm not a graphic designer, by any means, but my interests lie in modern architecture, Eames, Noguchi, etc.

Any interest or feedback in an embroidered ball cap or men's polo with the following?

Mike,

I am afraid I am the wrong person to ask. I hardly ever wear anything with a logo or graphics… and my wife and daughter tell me I have no taste… (except for a taste in selecting the right car, obviously, but all of us here have that).

However, if you want to make it abstract shouldn't you do something with the mercedes star too?

I may not be the right guy either. I'm not a hat guy but do wear T-Shirts in the summer on the weekends! This stated, I personally don't use the term "pagoda" as a reference to my car with people outside of our on-line circle. I think with a T-shirt  I'd want to be specific as opposed to keeping people guessing. That's just me and I've been known to be like an old dog and you know how they can be when it comes to new tricks.

Thanks kevin

I was just thinking along the lines that you had a number of these shirts  reproduced and you might have had some left over.

Here is a sketch done by a coworker - slightly more plant life on the sketch than was on the car when I pulled it out of its hiding spot.

Have a look at what I gave my coworker to work from.  My ugly sketch and a couple photos of pagodas turned into the beautiful artwork that you see above.

Too bad my youngest son is already 9 years old, otherwise this would be a great colouring piece...
Think about your grandchildren :D

BTW, I dont know why, but I think that once coloured, this drawing may look like l'art nouveau style. For some reason I think about Alfons Mucha (nothing in common with Anna Mucha featured in Way-off-topics ;D) and his art deco paintings, something like the one below:

Michael's finished the frame work of my Pagoda Print today. So I picked it up and made a few photographs.
I moved all the nick narks from the fireplace to take a photo and a close up while the sun was still out. The
frame is silver (to match the chrome on the car) the matting was picked to match some colors in the print.

Tomorrow I shall hang it in my Man cave downstairs, I know I will enjoy it there the most.

Nice color coordinates.
With the candles the place looks almost like an altar in a Pagoda temple  :)
