Thermo Time Switch
« on: February 28, 2014, 17:25:30 »
Hello,

I need to replace the thermo time switch in my SL 280 1970. I'm in UK.

In UK there is only one (...) genuine Mercedes part (part number A001 545 92 24)  but at a ridiculous price. I have been searching the web and found one in US sold by AutohausAZ at a reasonable price (naturally converting USD to GBP) but unfortunately just received an email informing my that its out of stock and no idea when it will be available.......

I know also VDO used to produce a alternative but again, impossible to find.....

I also understand that this is a part that quite often needs to be replaced so its worrying that there is such a lack of offer....

Does anyone have an idea or suggestion?

Many thanks!!!

Filippo

I was just looking at this.  The EPC shows another switch 003 545 90 24 that "as of" engine 7230 that is considerably cheaper ($177 list).

If that's a budget-buster, you can try the time-honored work-around of connecting the pink wire to ground.  That way the cold-start valve will fire the whole time the starter is cranking, or you can wire in a push-button switch between the pink wire and ground to control the valve.

But I've got to ask, are you sure it's the TTS and not the relay?
