That car is a very nice interpretation of the E-Type. The Top Gear video referred to in the article must be this one:

On the Pagoda side Mechatronik does something similar, fitting a modern drive gear:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-f2Uk7ffrcI did my own, fitting a Mercedes 5.6L V8 and a 5 speed manual transmission, the story is here:
http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=15521.0 I find it a much better car than original as it is much more powerful, better balanced, more comfortable at highway speed, returns a better mpg and is easier and cheaper to maintain. I built it with long distance holydays trips in mind, inspired by the GT concept of the sixties and early seventies.
Without going to these extremes, Pagodas can be greatly improved in terms of reliability and ease of use in today's traffic conditions by a rear end swap to a 3.27 ratio and an electronic ignition. fitting an overdrive 5 speed transmission instead of swapping the rear end is a bit more involved but an even better solution in my view.
