I cringe when I see them in a pagoda with a Narli wheel job, JMO.
I’ve never liked them. I’ve seen 2 or 3 pagodas relieved of the original wheels. I wondered why they would pay extra for an inferior wheel. It looks odd to me: a miss directed attempt to personalize a unique cockpit by replacing a distinctively Mercedes Benz control surface with a not-too-well-made aftermarket ‘Sports Car’ wheel. The wood layers and aluminum rivets look amateurish on an otherwise unified pagoda appearance. She is a beauty, no? Bella, bella… Why remind someone it’s a sports car? She already says I’m a sports car from her nose to her tail!
The original wheels are available. It’s not like we don’t have a choice. It is up to you. Luckily, there are not many ways to ‘customize’ this car. As a result, the vast majority have managed to stay in unmarred originality. In my view, wonderful!
It’s like trying to change the character with what some old timers thought a sports car steering wheel should look like. It’s already the epitome of a perfect sports cars.
Narlies always looked, to me, like something from an MG or Triumph, like bullet mirrors on both fenders, just a bit out-of-place on this girl.
An added benefit of a Narli: the varnish wears through leaving bare soiled wood. Just not up to the original par.
But it is, after all is said and done, your pagoda.
