How to remove a wheel shaft?
« on: May 21, 2014, 22:08:54 »
Hi all,

I need to pull the left rear wheel shaft to check on the wheel bearing. Up to know, I removed the shafts while the axle was apart so it was just a matter of pushing them out from the other end. I don't have a slide hammer, so I was wondering if there is a trick to remove them without it?

Thanks!

Quite easy. You will need bolts that fit the axle half (have found that certain Ford head bolts are perfect) and some angle iron. And a very big hammer.
