Stopped by today to check on progress. There are some nits but progress continues. The floors are tailored for the 280 SL so there are some differences (not counting the major difference with the early 230 SLs). That is, some holes in the left hand floor to accommodate the larger evap tank, plus the mounting point for the jack is slightly different. We keep learning.

Here they are! Got the car back yesterday, 25 Oct. The body, paint and re-assembly folks re true artists. Just a wonderful job. Pardon the naming of the files, did not get the order quite right, but there are three shots from this afternoon.

Hi Jon, Great to see your car back on the road. It looks good as new. Did the DMV issue you a new "Pagoda" plate or was the old one not damaged?

Looking good.  Did the shop get the trunk seal right?  Are you going to get any sort of "diminished value" or "loss of use" settlement?

Thanks all, and yes, it is very nice to have Red back at home.

The trunk seal is in correctly. All the little details in the trunk, with proper pads, spot welds, etc are "spot" on.

The plate was not damaged and neither were the taillights!

Tough to gauge the insurance. They paid for the actual accident damage. I paid for the "oh, look what we found" kind of stuff. The car is better than it was. Pricey, but all around fair.
