Of course Peter h, you don't do this too often I hope. I for one respect the age of mine even thou I gave her the name of "Blue Tornado"

When I drove in Germany on the Autobahn in the past ... I always positioned myself (in a VW Gulf) between 2 trucks, until such time when the one behind me was so close that I had to overtake the one in front of me at about 190 km/hr. You know what I mean.

I do have to agree with Peter .... ... drive safe always, we never know when our treasure has a problem I know you will agree.

Hi Peter, Amazing! and with the top down! We only got our little Golf up to 150Km and that was fast enough for this "Oldtimer" We had to pull over to let a Smart car go by!

A Smart won't go over 140....

And our cars are reputedly the fastest with the soft top up... Although also the noisiest. Slowest with the hard top. However, for comfort, I prefer open driving at speed (less wind noise)

Peter by what percentage would you say the wind-noise is reduced when using the wind deflector? I know you have one and you must be able to estimate the percentage from driving before / or once without the deflector. I'm just curious

I cannot estimate the percentage of noise reduction… I don't think noise is the issue. I do think it is a day-and-night difference for comfort. Much more comfortable without the wind buffeting your neck. Cees K thinks I am a girl for having one. However, to me it is simple:

• with deflector, Karin will join me
• without deflector, she won't...

If you are unsure, at the next event have a ride in a Pagoda with one…

A Smart won't go over 140....

 Pretty sure it was a Smart, possibly a Brabus tuned model??

As for wind with the top down, when we used to go for a ride with our little terrier, he used to love to sit behind the seats facing rear to get the full effect of the "Whoooosh" in his face. Since our driving these days is pretty "sedate", it is not a problem for driver or navigator.

I enjoyed the film. I can confirm getting pretty much the same rev count in mine with the roof down, also a 5 speed . I live along way from the german autobahns but the traffic level on the small french roads where i spend my weekends allows a certain "indiscretion" sacre bleu!
Incidentally, its rather important that the brakes are as on form as the accelerator!

My primary driver insists she *loves* the wind buffetting on the neck, so has forbidden me to consider a wind deflector. Marcus has one and likes it. As for speed, I have good memories of rental cars in Germany! But driving a Pagoda on the autobahn is only pleasant fantasy for me. I must keep to the speed limit +15 in these parts. Although I confess to 120 when passing, once or twice. Great fun, nonetheless.
