Collection Tour - Southern California

To all Pagoda followers -

Bob Gunthorp (aka as "the Pagoda Whisperer" - thanks to Bob Geco). Is hosting a tour of his collection of interesting and unique MB models. Those in the States that are members of MBCA have seen his cars feature in the Star magazine. He has also been featured in the UK mag - Mercedes Enthusiast. He has a particular fascination with the station wagon models (including ambulance and hearse!). The cars each have their stories and Bob is fun to listen to. He has also working to join the ranks of Pagoda owner. He may have two, how shall we say, project cars from an estate, pending clearance of a deal with the estate trustees.

We are planning to gathering at Bob's place at 3 PM on 1 November, 2014. - 2176 Leon Ave, San Diego, CA.

Just wanted to add a reminder and pop this back to the top of the list

For those that get the magazine, Mercedes Enthusiast for September 2014 has a nice two page article on one of Bob's station wagons. It was Judge's Choice at the last Starfest (MB USA convention).

Hey Everybody,

Our tour of the Gunthorp collection is just days away. After the tour we are having a potluck at Bob's home. If you're planning to be there please let me know so we can make sure we have enough room. Like Jon, I've thoroughly enjoyed hearing the stories and seeing the slideshow about Bob's cars. It will be truly exciting to see them all up close.

Again, it's this coming Saturday, Nov 1 at 3 PM. Looking forward to seeing everyone and hopefully making a few new friends.

Would it be possible for a volunteer (or two) to submit a write-up and take lots of great photographs for an article in Pagoda World?

Can you "deputize" a volunteer?

PW16 is almost finished, so this would be for PW17, slated for late Spring/early Summer next year.

A sunny afternoon, and a slightly rainy drive home, but a good time was had. Bob has his own "barn find" Pagoda now. A couple of shots of Bob's collection of MB rarities. The last shot is in keeping with the theme of this weekend, Halloween, showing off Bob's hearse and his helping hand…..

In the last shot, Clayton (Pagoda is under construction at Bob G's shop), Bob G (blue print shirt), BarryD (subject of Pagoda Notes article earlier this year) and Gary J (original owner of 250 SL, with fabulous restoration and highlighted in several of the Mercedes magazines).
