Koni red vs black shock absorbers: any difference?
« on: October 10, 2014, 22:31:00 »
Hi all,

I'm looking around for adjustable konis for my '71 280SL. I noted that there were the red type available, ref 80-1415 for the front, and 80-1416 for the rear. They are slightly above $100 each. Then there are the black "Classic" ones, roughly 1,5 times the price of the red ones. Apart from the color, are there any difference between the two?

Thanks!

Don't hold me to this but I think that the reds are valved firmer than the blacks but not as stiff as the yellows (sports). I was also under the impression that they were no longer in production so the better price may be due to a supplier trying to eliminate old stock?
