Something sinister in the woods?
« on: November 25, 2014, 09:53:53 »
The early 1960s saw Mercedes release this strange image of the new SL 230 deep in the woods. Are we about to witness a crime? Classic Driver follows the trail...

Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
Gonna grab some afternoon delight
My motto's always been; when it's right, it's right
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day
And we know the night is always gonna be here any way

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
and the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting

Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Rothko,

No blanket or sleeping bag.  Dressed way to nicely.  Probably hunting for Morels...

Starland Vocal band?  Really?

This is a regular factory sales brochure picture.

And it is most likely not from about 1963 but much later.

The 230 on picture is already missing the spare wheel well.
Most likely dated late Autumn/winter 1964/1965.
