Trunk Lid Center Pad

Does anyone have a trunk lid without a fabric pad inserted at the center of the stiffening cross bars? My '67 250SL (that I've owned for 30 years) did not have a pad there when I restored it a few years ago, so I did not put one in. The car was unmolested and still in original paint when I did the restoration.
Oh, and, there was no "shadow" of a pad ever having been there. See attached photo taken during disassembly.

As far as I know all W113 cars left the factory with this anti-squeak felt piece.  Perhaps the car wasn't quite "unmolested" when you got it?
For example, do you have a better photo showing the tire pressure decal in the trunk? Yours looks different than the original red one shown here:

Having seen a number of these over the years and various conversations, my understanding is that the pads were there throughout production

The sticker for tire pressure on the trunk lid is red, glossy, and printed in German. The car was originally for the domestic German market (market code "2").

This is odd since my 1984 107 chassis 280SL is original paint and has no evidence of the pad between the support bars even though any North American spec car I have looked at has one. I put my own in since the rattle when closing the trunk drives me crazy.
