Has a Mercedes data card ever been proven wrong?

Has anyone ever come across a situation where something on the actual MB data card is in fact, wrong? And been able to be proven wrong?

For example: Body tag has 568 on it (signal red), and the car has always been 568, but the data card says something else, like 268 (dark green).

Or is it possible that the engine in a car is the actual original, never been out, has it's number on it... but the data card lists a completely different number?

I've never seen such an error... and I know we all generally take the Germans' word / paperwork as gospel, but does anyone know of such an error that has actually been proven?

Panzer, could that be a typo on your data card? We all make typos I know I do

I've never seen an error.  Do you have something questionable on your datacard?

Porsche made lots of errors, particularly when preparing their "Certificate(s) of Authenticity;"  M-B almost never erred.  Most of the M-B questions arise through difficult to read copies.

According to a guy over on the 600 forum, my 600 was silver blue when it was new. I question this because we had the whole car apart and all we found was black paint everywhere we looked. I didn't get this from a data card so I can't say if the info is wrong or not.

The data card for my 250 is clean, everything matches, no problems. I'm still waiting on the Classic Center for a data card for my 230, which I'm about to sell actually, as I'm on a strict 'one at a time rule' with my wife (at least for Pagodas). I got the 230 last year, but this 250 was offered to me recently and I just couldn't pass it up.

I ask because I have a client who has what he believes is a discrepancy between the car and the data card.

Hopefully you are on the "one at a time rule with wives, too. If not, that could get more costly than the two cars!

Funny Kevin... yeah... I think I've found my one and only, going on 8 years now.

I have a '92 300CE that I bought from a guy who lives inside the gates of the Del Monte Forest / Pebble Beach, a friend of mine sold it to him several years ago, so I knew the car. Bought it and shipped back to MN from CA last Fall... although I probably should have never bought it. My driveway / garage looks like a used Mercedes lot, which is fun, but I mean, how many can I really USE? Not to say I wouldn't have 10 cars... I just probably don't have the right facility to do that with right now.... so I'm probably going to sell the 300CE in the Spring... it's gorgeous, a fun cruiser... and costs next to nothing to insure, license and maintain.
