Windscreen wiper blade assembly attachment
« on: March 04, 2015, 12:05:57 »
Hi,

Not sure if this is chassis or body topic;  had a look in technical help but would appreciate assistance.

Something that should be easy....   I lost a windscreen wiper from 1964 230SL (RHD), and ordered on replacement set.     As the replacement blade assy is different to what was on the car (I suspect not the correct ones) I cannot just copy to see how to join the wiper blade assy to the "stalk".
The replacement came with a package of small rubber bits (please see addtached PDF), before I go and lose any ot the bits, much appreciate any guidance on how to attach the wiper blade assy to the stalk

With thanks

Steven

Hi,

The top right 'bit' snaps onto the pin the wiper blade.

The bit slides into the 'u' on the arm and should lock.
The little movable tang on the bit should be on the underside of the arm when placed in position.

Clear as mud?

p.s: where did you buy the wiper blades?

Hi Sahern

I love these plastic bits you get with the wipers these days !

I have a picture somewhere, if I can find it I will post it here.

Found it...

Hi Paul and Naj

Thanks for response, and advice.

WIll address the "rubic cube" assembly of the plastic bits this weekend and see if I pass the clear as mud test.  One would think "this should be so easy....!", however...

Naj, I got the wiper blade assebly from Bud's Benz - I was happy to get used assy with new rubber.     The previous owned had put many 280 parts on (including windscreen wiper blades....much longer) so good to get some originals..    I put order in  to Bud's on preevious Thursady (26b Feb), and revieved the wiper vlade assy here in Perth Australia on Tuesday (3rd March)  - UPS do a good service.

WIll report after success (or otherwise)

Regards
