Sewing up a BMW carpet set

My 1973 BMW 2002 is in desperate need of a new carpet set. I was unable to locate the correct carpet material despite an exhaustive search so I opted to just go with a tweed German square weave wool. It is an upgrade anyway!

I then bought myself a nice vintage German made Adler 167 walking foot industrial sewing machine, bought the carpet, binding, thread, etc and went to town!

Yes I think it's beautiful stuff too. I bought it at Global Upholstery in CA, not to be confused with World Upholstery. They have competitive prices and strictly sell the material. They do not sell carpet sets or seat covers like Gaah and World.

Thanks! I never thought I'd enjoy sewing so much. It's not as dirty as metalwork and mechanic work! Your coupe tunnel carpet should be fairly easy. What does Raja's car need?

Some more bits of carpet. This was probably the biggest challenge so far as sewing the binding around the the tight curves was really not very easy!

Today I sewed up the transmission tunnel carpet. For the scuff pad next to the gas pedal I used real leather instead of vinyl as I figured it would wear better and elevate the quality of the interior.

Thats Awesome! What is your total all-in cost including the sewing machine? Some of us with time on their hands may wish to go this route instead of the pre-made kits that can have fitting issues and incorrect cuts.

Thanks! Materials were in the $300 range but then again I used the most expensive possible carpet- german square weave wool.
The sewing machine I bought used for $800. It is an industrial machine and those don't come cheap! I intend to use it for many other projects so that's ok!

The drivers carpet was particularly challenging as I had to trim around the pedaks. Yes this car still has a pedal box!
