I _really_ dislike that seller.   If you look at seller's other listings you will see that ever piece that could possibly be taken off the car and sold is listed or has sold.

OK, let me pick myself off the ground after a good belly laugh. This isn't worth a "plug nickel"; restoration would be a fool's venture, and it's greatest value--if you could say that, is scrap metal.

I don't know.......... I saw one sell recently for 4K. No doors, no trunk lid, no hood, and no font end. Completely stripped shell with running gear.

I was contemplating a "best offer" of twenty bucks, but then wondered what part of it was worth that much, so decided against it !

Where's Peter van Es when we need him? We need a "LIKE" button for great posts like Dale's. Can this be done?

Dale, consider a LIKE. I give you a thumbs up.

Thanks Michael, pleased you appreciated it.     Given, in my opinion, the absurdity of the listing, I couldn't resist.

All jokes aside I wonder what a VIN and useable Chassis would be worth? In a RHD you would still pay handsomely I suspect.

I hope the right person buys it ( at a reasonable price ) - can never have enough of these cars driving / sitting around.

I would guess it matters greatly by laws, rules and jurisdiction...in some places you probably cannot willy-nilly "swap" VINs from one chassis to another, but in others I suppose there is a policy and procedure to do so.
In this particular case, that's a handsome price for scrap metal and a VIN if it is legitimate, and there is a title. Also, in the USA we have (in some states) what is called a "Salvage Title" and that poses other issues when the car is no longer "Salvage" but licensed and on the road!

There are many drivable cars, some older 230s for example, that can be had in the $20k-$30k range, fully legitimate. On that piece of &^%$ for sale for $14,500, just getting some of the trim and interior, maybe the bonnet and a grill will take you way above that and you still have that little issue of an engine. Oh, the tires don't look THAT bad though... ;D

I just wanted to mention that I've had positive experience with this seller.  I've had luck finding impossible to find parts.  One was an exhaust header (only exhaust manifolds are typically available) and a second was the baffle plate that surrounds the air filter.  I got prompt delivery.  Prices weren't cheap but I'd say they were fair.

Same here.  They had the world's only AC bracket for my W110 fintail.

Obviously, buying the car and paying someone to restore it would be suicidal.  But if you had a restoration shop, and wanted to use it to fill in time and then sell it, it could make sense.  Same if you were a really skilled hobbyist.  That is probably the market they are aiming at.

Actually, the door gaps look pretty good, and I've certainly seen much worse floor and trunk rust.

Most of what is missing or burned would need to be replaced anyway in a high-dollar restoration.  So personally, I would like to see someone buy it and put another car on the road.
