Early Hatch cover chrome strip
« on: March 30, 2015, 02:06:54 »
I have serial #508, and find that my soft top hatch cover is different from other 113s that I have seen. It has a chrome strip at the rear of the hatch, and less width for the leather. I am in the process of redoing the interior and am trying to verify that the chrome is correct for my car. I did find a picture of one like it when I did a Google search and sifted through hundreds of pictures here is the pic I found online that matches my car

Daryl,
the center chrome moulding was eliminated after VIN 001350, so yours should have it.

Had one on my 230SL (1967) till another member paid me a high price for it.
I took it from my 1963 230SL #1246 which I sold.

Now have a regular one and will install the thin chrome strip there when I have time.

Keep it, it's a hard to find item on the W113SL's.

Best,
Walter

This is the only correct info, nothing else.

All later cars should not have it, whether it is nice or not.

Just my 2 cents...
