This passed weekend my self and Tom Colit had the pleasure to be invited to the Palos Verdes Concours d' Elegance held at the new location Rolling Hills Country Club Estates.
I had the pleasure of riding passenger in Tom's Restored 1973 3.0 BMW coupe Racing silver. Fast is an understatement for this car rocket propelled swirl combustion chambers and a tight suspension put this car in a class all its own. No wonder Mercedes-Benz scrambled to introduce the V8 option in 1971 the old sixs were running out of steam due to emission standards.
On Friday night Tom, myself and my wife Sharon attended a gala dinner hosted by Lexus. The country club food was first rate as was the company and even Paul Moyer, California's well known anchor for Channel 4, was in attendance. He had his 275 GTB ferrari and a just aquired 1969 Yanko Camaro entered to show.
The Mercedes-Benz class had several beautiful cars from a 300s cabriolet, a beautiful blue 220SE coupe with sunroof and a 220SE Cabriolet black. The Mercedes-Benz clas would not be complete without Gullwings Expert restorer Gary Jarvis's red gullwing marveled even seasoned judges to claim first in class award.
A group of W113 Pagoda owners were also present to add to the mix and keep spectators asking questions about their cars.
Though this show's marque was the 100 years of Rolls Royce, it was a good show and my thanks go out to Lexus and Art Center College for their help to keep this show alive. My personal thanks to the staff and the people and volunteers who worked so hard to dedicate their time to this show and the charities that benefit from it.
A wonderfull weerkend indeed!
