Essen techno classica 2015
« on: April 19, 2015, 21:57:48 »
having enjoyed a few days in Germany at what must be one of the greatest classic car shows on the planet I thought I'd share a few photos with you. First is the 1955 Mille Miglia winning 300 SLR driven by Stirling Moss, shown on the Mercedes Stand, in my opinion the car was not in the position it deserved - note the lack of onlookers. Next is the car awarded best in show - one of only 40 built, a 1957 Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina cabriolet followed by another rare car - one of only 29 300 SL alloy bodied Gullwings, shown fully restored on the HK Engineering stand, along with more 'normal' 300SL's that you can count on both hands!. Lastly was one of my favourite cars at the show and if I only had the money.. a gorgeous 1960 Ferrari 250 GT Coupe, sold for a cool 900,000 Euros within minutes of the show opening if not before.

Hope you enjoy!

It was great to see Sir Sterling drive the 722 around the field of the Amelia this past March.  He may be old but he looked quite at home in that race car.  I've got a soft spot for that old Ferrari too... a soft spot in the wallet where 900,000 Euros never existed.  ::)

Lots - perhaps too much - Porsche content in these but some great photos

Also, 4 x 911s disappeared (were stolen) at the event. No doubt put in a closed truck and headed to an unscrupulous owner somewhere. We think values of our cars have gone up... this is likely a consequence
