Heater Lever Colors Part II
« on: September 22, 2004, 13:35:10 »
As I mentioned in my previous post, I recently had the heater levers replaced in my 280 SL. The colors light up correctly when the dash board is lit on the 2 reds and the blue levers, however the "smoke grey" colored lever appears to be backlit in red when the dash lights are on.  I took it back to the mechanic who installed them and they cannot see any reason why it is not backlit properly.  He did mention that the lever has a more "amber" than "smoke grey" color to it........any suggestions from the pros?  Has the manufacturer changed the colors on the levers at all?

I think its probably just reflected light from the shiny new red lever. Let some dust settle on it and things will look different.

I would agree with Naj. I checked mine last night, and I have the all plastic levers, and the gray lever does have a reddish cast, it was more noticeable at twilight than when it is completely dark outside.
