New: Large Pagoda Model cars
« on: April 25, 2015, 14:11:23 »
Recently I was alerted to the availability of two new models, scale 1:12, of our Pagoda's. Manufacturer is the German Premium ClassiXXs. There is a hardtop model, and a soft top model.

The photographs look good, but what the reality is like, I do not know. By clicking on the SHOP button at the top right, they can be added to your basket. The price is € 249,99 incl of VAT. At that price the quality had better be pretty good!

They appear to ship to the US, and the total cost (including shipping) is then € 245 as the VAT is 0%, and the shipping costs are higher.

There also may be distributors…

I can't vouch for the quality. Do your own checking.

Hi Peter,

Last fall I saw the red model here at our dealership the scale is 1:18 not 1:12 for $134- plus 13% tax. I have a catalog someplace. Looks like the folks that make them or stock them want an arm and a leg for it or the first born LOL As for the quality it was pretty good for that money (converted to US it is only $124-US).

There must be many more people out there making all kinds of model cars and charging different prices.

Here is a 230SL from the Mercedes Catalogue for 89 Euros (I saw the 280 in that size last fall)

Rolf, that looks like the Norev model you posted.  I have one in silver sitting in my book case.  It also has a detachable hardtop.

Rolf,
the model Peter meant was this :

and it is in the scale 1:12. It looks very nice.

This is a link that will take you to different W113 models. At 1:18, you have Anson, Norev and Techno Giodi. The prices tend to vary by color, even for a given type (silver Norev is pricey if you can find it).

I just bought the 1:12  silver ClassiXXs (it's convertible only) and received it a few days ago. I wanted the silver because it's the color of my car. It saves me walking to the garage if I want to admire the car  ;D. The model really is very nice.

There is a hardtop model, and a soft top model.
Do note: there are two direct links in my earlier post above. And a 1:12 model is significantly different, and more expensive than the common 1:18 models...

Here is a link that shows both models in 1:12 scale. Strangely the silver (without HT) is more expensive than the red with HT.

Judging by the pictures, the attention to detail seems much stronger than in the 1:18 scale. As Peter pointed out the real touch and look may be another thing

So Meyer: do not deprive yourself from the silver, grab it as long as they still have them  ;D

I had the opportunity to view both of these model cars, red with H/T and silver open top, at the show in Essen recently. I did not buy.
In many ways, model is well detailed. It is certainly striking, partly because of its size. But some parts I was less thrilled about. See attached

PS  A tip Re: reply No4, stay away from the 1:18 Anson models of the Pagoda. They are severely off in their dimensions/proportions  DS
