Fuel filter question

When I change the fuel filter in a 1967 250sl do i need a new copper washer for the bolt?

A good idea, but the washer or the dang gasket are not supplied with the filter (as they are for an oil filter) go figure....
Although is the washer a copper one or an aluminum one?

I would suggest renewing the sealing washer.
Mine started leaking after about 500 miles, on a rally in the middle of Europe
Very annoying smell in the cab.
