Our cars were well-represented in the Post-War Mercedes class at the Pinehurst Concours last weekend:
Steve Brook's 280SL, Mount Vernon, VA
Barry Huff's 280SL, Kernersville, NC
Bruce Wood's 250SL, Hilton Head, SC
Chuck Taylor's 280SL, Falls Church, VA
We were joined by a 190SL freshly restored by Bruce Adams, a couple of amazing 600 SWBs, an in-progress 300SL roadster, and a nice 220S Ponton.
The judging was relaxed. There were three judges. They said "tell us about your car," did a drivability assessment (start, light, signals, horn, etc.), looked the car over, then went off and keyed stuff in to a tablet PC.
It was a very nice weekend, except for the rain on Saturday which caused the cancellation of the Fort Bragg drive and car show - there was standing water on the parade field. The staff, volunteers, and police were amazingly helpful. The weather on Saturday was perfect, and the Three Dog Night concert that evening was a blast.
Here is a picture of three of the cars - Bruce arrived late and left early and I wasn't able to get a picture of his car, a red/tan euro 250SL.
Cheers,
CT
