I happen to know this car. Very interesting history.  Anything that's not correct about the car is due to the customer's '' request '' to have it that way. It is, however, a high end restoration.

Whilst there are some details that are not correct, they are very easily rectified and it certainly does look like a nice car.

I wonder why they painted the Ethiopian flag on the pitman arm?

Looks like Gary S. car of Toronto. He invited me to see it special slippers and all, guess he sold it and the new owner now likes to make a profit LOL this is how the prices of our cars are driven up.

Same car here and slippers too ----> http://www.autovaultcanada.com/280sl.htm

Gary S. runs a special garage to store expensive cars in Toronto. He took delivery of his last year in December (now sold or up for sale, looks like it).

I thought that it looked very much like John Smucker's car from Michigan; but Im probably wrong..He wouldn't allow his beauty to have a chipped hood badge on it. unless he had one on order.. ell this makes be feel good about the value of Sara Jane.. she must be worth north of $50,000 usd in her patina condition w/ original w/s & original frt bumper, mostly polished trim. But that is a butifully restoted to new car..And Peter Klutt would know it..

Aside from the hot pink interior, a nice restoration but to quote my late mother, "Not my cup of tea".

It's actually red leather.  The lighting just gives it that odd colour.  He also prefers the chrome bling on the earlier cars that is why it has the earlier side and interior mirrors.

I like it but I prefer to drive my survivor with all its flaws and patina...

I agree with Brad, I too prefer to drive mine as often as I can :) With something so new and zoo expensive I would fear the entire time driving it ~grin~

I have seen this car and the restoration pictures in the DR. The workmanship is excellent, equal to anything from Stickel or other restorers that I saw at the Stuttgart Messe in April. Similar  cars there started at 170,000 euros.
The colour.goose neck mirrors  and Gary's accessories are a matter of taste.
If it was done by the Classic Center or another big name , the price would have been $250,000 US

Yes, to all of the above. I was in the DR more than two years ago when it was just a body shell and I saw the work they were doing there - it's nice.

I've known Gary for a long time and we worked on his red 280SL before he sold it for about 50K back when that was a very tall price for a 113.

After months of emails back and forth between myself, Gary and Pablo, Gary finally decided to buy one of Pablo's cars. This took about two years to complete to Gary's very detailed specs. I pushed Pablo NOT to do everything he wanted, of which he mostly folowed, or it would have been even more blingy.

I had heard Gary sold the car shortly after in arrived in Toronto for a huge pile of cash. Now of course this is all here say, but I guess maybe a sale of some sort wasn't. The car is very well done and Vintage Classicos in the DR is still one of those places few know about but one they really should check out some time.
