At least that Porsche can be replaced, with a newer model year if he has the right insurance.  Still have to wonder how the lithium behaved in that fire.  Yikes.

Unfortunately that particular Porsche cannot be replaced.  There were only 918 of them made, and only as a 2015.  They are sold out.  Don't know how insurance handles that, just a payout I guess.

I recall Richard Hammond testing the 918 on Top Gear.  In the comments afterward I think they commented that "only three" had caught fire.  That was a year ago.  Maybe that's part of the Porsche plan to make them even more rare.  ;)
