Rick, I may want to rent a Pagoda instead of shipping mine back over for the event.  Please consider this posting a request for a rental of 1 Pagoda.  Thanks!

Rick, is there still any discussion about renting a truck to ship some of our SLs down to Italy?

I am not sure I will have the time to attend the event and the drive time between there and NL. Unfortunately, September is usually a busy month at work!

Looking forward to hearing all the details in due course...

Cheers,
Brian

Definitely in, and would like to rent a Pagoda from Peter if available.

I have found a return cruise ship from Rome to Australia on the following Wednesday 28th.  Kate will be happy.

Transport .

There 'are some questions about a possibility to have a organized transport by truck or train to Italy .

I've been looking into that and even did the journey last year . We took the "car overnight train " from Den Bosch ( NL ) to Alessandria ( Italy )
For our Event this would not be suited since they only have a fixed time schedule and only run in high season. Also Alessandria is a 5 hour drive from Merano .

From Dusseldorf ( Germany ) there are more options but I still haven't found a train that goes to Bolzano , which would be the nearest town with a stop and unloading , within our window.
I would leave this to each and every one individually. I mean some of you would maybe connect a few additional day's to the trip .... be my guest .

A organized truck transport for a maximum of 6 or 8 cars is being mentioned and Paul is still looking into that , but I think it would not be feasible , and the drivers would still need to fly over to Milano or Innsbruck and then what ?  Rental car ?  Taxi ? Train ?  For me this would be more exhausting then driving with a stopover ...
The stopover / halfway hotel is under investigation and we're hoping to get a Hotel, known by us that would be right up our ally ... By the way this would not be a big hotel to accommodate every attendee . And it would mean additional costs for does who would want make use of that .  So as soon as we contact you with the invitation to participate ,we will ask you if you want to.

BTW Garry and Tom I will send your request to Peter so he can contact you with a proposal for the Pagoda Rental .

More to follow ...

Hi Rick, You need not bother to look into Dusseldorf Autotrain , they have stopped their services or will do so on short term.

For truck transport we could try Jan Tinga. (http://www.tingaauto.nl) He does this for many rallies, cost approx € 500 / car one way with 8 cars - but ask for a quote. He could drop the cars at the nearest place with an airport so that people would not need to hire cars locally.

I know Jan Tinga.

Hi Ric

We could be interested in either the Transport option or stopover in Germany, as we will should be departing from Gouda.

Guys,

as an inveterate driver I'm not going to arrange car transport. If you are interested, find more like minded people and organise it yourself. Do wait until Rick has confirmed your place and you've paid up...

I will pass on the one-way transport; any estimate of how long it will take to drive to the arrival point from Amsterdam? Or how many kilometers that is?

Thanks.
