Manual Steering Box seals -
« on: June 05, 2015, 12:34:54 »
hello all, the pitman arm seal on my (manual) steering box recently developed an ‘aggressive’ leak.  Before I remove the steering box, I’d like to have the replacement seals on hand.  Anyone ever replaced manual steering box seals or know whether a seal kit is available for these manual boxes?

I'd prefer to replace the seals rather than go with a remanufactured box. thanks, Charles

Uhh, am I the only one wondering what would leak out of a manual steering box?

The EPC shows a seal for the pittman arm - three "optional with" numbers: 001 997 93 46, 002 997 71 46, and 002 997 72 46.

There is also a seal on the shaft connecting to the coupler:  same deal: 002 997 47 46, 002 997 70 46, 004 997 15 46.

Something should be available from a dealer or the Classic Center.

there's SAE 90 gear oil in the manual gear boxes
