280SL Trunk overflow emissions cannister

Does anyone have pictures of what the overflow emissions canister should look like installed when the car was new? I am especially interested in the connection of the single top hose connecting to the round valve (single hose). Does it have a hose clamp or not? and the connection of the two hoses at the bottom of the round valve. Does one hose have a hose clamp and the other hose not have a hose clamp? Also how does the top hose connect to the cardboard side panel in the trunk. I know that 4 clips hold the canister to the side panel but is there a clip that holds the top hose  connected to the round valve in place?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for. It has been untouched since it left the factory.

TJMart,

What year is your car, the 1970 and 71 were different than earlier.  Mine is a rectangular vertical flat PE container with two short plastic inlets on the forward part.  It clips to the cardboard liner on the drivers side of the trunk.

I have a 1970. Mike, it sounds like yours is like mine. The two bottom hoses come up from the trunk floor and connect to the "round valve" and a single hose comes from the top of the round valve and goes into the cannister. Is it possible to send a picture? It would sure help to see what type of connections there are. (Clamps or no clamps) and to see how the top hose is connected to the cardboard liner.

I'll try to get some pics this weekend.  Definitely want clamps, I had a recent leak, which could have been a disaster.

If these questions concern  the larger "emissions/overflow/expansion" tank fitted to later cars , then there are excellent pictures of most of the components in the Technical manual here, under Fuel System / Fuel Vapour Tank
