Hour Hand out of alignment a few clicks

Note how the hour hand lags about 1/3 hour from where it should be relative to the minute hand.

Do I even dare try to fix it myself?   Any ideas short of sending it off for repair?

take a look again. Is it ~ 7:17 as the minute hand shows or ~ 7:47 according to the hour hand?
So, which hand is off??

probably one of the hands is loose on its 'axle'. If you can pry the chrome crimp ring off (not sure whether you can open up the clock from the back any other way) then I would venture an attempt myself to re-affix it to the axle/spindle. If that fails you can send it off to Palo Alto Speedometer or another shop.

Yeah Jon, note the minute had is quarter past the hour, but the hour hand is not.  It does beg the question - which is off - but either way, they're out of sync.  Was hoping to avoid another send off to Palo Alto, but that might be better than breaking it.  Unless someone really advises against it, I may tinker with it this weekend

You can adjust the hands to bring them back in the proper relative position...it does not matter which you move and there is no way to know which one is "off".  Just move them manually, and be careful not to touch the face of the clock so as to not leave any oil from your fingers behind.
