Hello,
I have a 1969 280SL, and it wants to stall after starting. After I turn the key, it will "catch", rev to 1000+/-, and then want to stall. She will usually keep running, and if I manage the throttle carefully I can work through this "flat spot". After the initial start up, she runs and drives just fine. This problem was first noticed after I replaced the starter with the new "High Torque" Model. However, the issue got worse after I did the following:
1. I installed a new Pertronix Ignition System, along with their Flamethrower Coil;
2. I installed new Bosch Injectors, fuel filter, and new NGK spark plugs;
3. I rebuilt and adjusted the Throttle Linkage (it was very worn);
Other than this starting issue, the car has never idled/ran this good!
I suspect the Cold Start Valve is faulty, or maybe my Throttle Adjustment could be off a bit?
Anybody have any ideas?
Thank you,
Galen
