electrical wiring of constant idling solenoid
« on: July 04, 2015, 07:13:52 »
Hi,

I am helping another forum member in Belgium with the adjustment of the linkages. All went well, but just one issue:

It is a 1966 230 sl automatic and had a non functioning idling solenoid. We found a replacement one, which is working when activated with 12V.

But the electrical wires in the car to it are not activated when put in drive. I didn't found the electrrical diagram in the Haynes manual for that part.

How is the wiring hooked up? Is there an electrical swith in the drive position (and in 2,3,4 en R) ?
And what fuse is involved?

many thanks, Rudy

Are these items not shown in the Wiring diagrams in the Technical manual / premium content ?

Good luck

Hi Rudy,
Sorry, I don't have the wiring diagram, but I know that there are two switches that operate the constant speed solenoid; one for D and one for R.
They have been swapped round on my car (1966 230) as the forward I.e. D one failed.
Not quite sure where they are located but they must near the gear selector.
Regards,
Jim.

Rudy,

You're a full member, so go here (http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Main/HomePage) and click on Electrical Systems, then on Wiring Diagram, then on Color Wiring Diagram.  See if your CSS wiring is shown.
