Sindelfingen interviews

Are there been any interviews (translated) over the years of engineers, designers, mechanics, assembly workers atc. involved in the production of our cars that have been published ?

In our sister organisation in Germany?

This  an interesting subject  :)

The people that worked in the Sindelfingen Factory and M-B dealership workshops fifty years ago, are getting quite old and all are pensioners of course.
To get their memories and tales in print would add knowledge and perspective on how our favourite cars were produced and serviced back then.

Some, however very little (at least that I am aware of), has been written in the Magazine of the German Club Pagode.
Perhaps our Members peter h and 114015 Achim are able to assist(?)

Hans - exactly. Many of the senior MB personnel would have passed away now but, many of the younger ones during the 1960-1970 period would still be around albeit in their 70's

I was thinking it would be really interesting to hear their thoughts, views & comments about working at MB in the 1960's and in particular on SL range: the culture, the processes, the cars, the atmosphere etc.

There doesn't even seem to be that many photos of Pagoda production (except the the famous "red car" photo). I am perhaps a little surprised that there doesn't seem to be any such "interviews" or documentaries.

The 50 year anniversary of the launch of the Pagoda could have been a good occasion to have a retrospective interview - maybe that's not so much in the German culture.

One can find a number of TV documentaries, interviews on UK motor car production during the 1950' & 1960's: e.g. Jaguar
