This was in Daily Telegraph...

<<Evans, an avid Ferrari fan, also had several other examples of the manufacturer’s back-catalogue in the auction, including a 1989 328GTS Targa, which was originally owned by former Formula One champion Nigel Mansell and sold for £115,000.
But while Evans is known for his love of Ferraris, his collection of classic cars is vast, and he had models from several other manufacturers available, too.
Attracting the most interest was a Daimler SP250 roadster, originally supplied to the Metropolitan Police and still in full police specification. It had been expected to sell for £50-60,000, but was the subject of a furious bidding war which eventually took the price up to £72,000 before fees.
A Mercedes 280SL convertible, formerly owned by Tetra Pak billionaire Hans Rausing, also sold for above its guide price, at £105,000.>>

So whever on not that 280SL was the Chris Evans one is not clear from the article.. Typical Press Clarity !

Keep well
