2015 PUB Picture Post
« on: September 14, 2015, 10:57:31 »
Folks,

What a fabulous weekend.  Family, one and all.  What a great opportunity to learn and laugh.  I hope everyone had as good a time as I had.

Now it's time to share all of those great pictures everyone took.  Put our group names under personal pics if you can.  It will let our members who couldn't make it feel a little more connected.

Please post under this thread, and maybe you'll get a new ScreenSaver out of it.

Regards,

Mike Mizesko

MASSIVE thanks to Joe & his family for hosting this unparalleled event!    The Pagoda talents gathered at Blacklick from around the globe is beyond impressive.   Much appreciation to all the experts for sharing their expertise and "tuning" many cars.

(BTW, I'm still here at Blacklick --- can't get enough)

Thank you Joe for being such a great host and the Pagoda Group members who put together this wonderful weekend PUB 2015 at Blacklick! The technical seminars were very interesting and the hands on experience invaluable. Started new friendships and learned a ton about our cars! As someone said yesterday, it's more about the people that about the cars.

All the best,

Gerardo

Alfred's car in Joe's shop. When I arrived early Friday morning Joe completed setting the valves I was just in time to watch this. Naturally along with doing this he got ready for his PUB Guests. Joe was always on the move thruout the event, what a great host he was. Thank you Joe.

Joe's garage shows the love and time he has devoted in the past 35 so years on cars like ours and similar Benz cars. His plans are to add a second bay sometime in the future that will give him more room.

Licence plates from cars of the past everywhere, Joe pointed out .... "There is my very first one from my 190SL" .... I never ever saw so many tool boxes in one place I think I counted 22, then I may have missed some :)

Then there were old parts for us to play with and examine in detail like the cut away oil filter showing the locations of all O-Rings and seals that are not always in place and allow oil to by-pass the filter element. Or this gas tank showing the flow pattern of gas and the "Flower Pot" Joe came by and head up a large glass jaw filled 1/4 with rust dust and said "this is what we found inside the tank, the car was still running"

That could have been me who said that, but then I say that at every meeting I've ever been to; because it's true. :)

I don't have any pictures but I sure had a good time. The drive home was great - considerably better than the drive down.  Nice to put faces to names and meet many of you. It was my pleasure to help out who ever I could and I hope everyone went away with something useful.

On a different note; a few people had a chance to drive the Red Rocket. Alex, Joe and a couple others. To me at least, there's nothing better than letting someone dive my car so they can have fun in it too - I think the Rocket lived up to it's name. Next time I'm taking Joe's grandson for a drive - what a fine young man he is.

Oh, one more thing. I believe I tickled Alex's funny bone about the ultimate looser story. I don't believe I've seen anyone laugh that hard whenever I've told it, and in his own words, '' the best laugh I've had in over a year.''

As President, I had so many people come up to me to say thanks for a great event.  I was quick to point out that I didn't do it, the members did.  The people who came were all great human beings.  The organizing committee of ZENngine Master, Joe Alexander, 4-time committee person Alfred Esser, your Treasurer Mike Mizesko, and local coordinator, Alex Djuric, deserve most of the organizing credit.  But, anyone who was asked to do anything immediately jumped in and over delivered.  Great thanks are due for all of our sponsors, and presenters.  And the real success was that everyone in attendance, even new owners, had some knowledge or experience to share that will help someone in the future.

I had the opportunity to speak to Gernold Nissius and Brad Peterson at the same time about an issue with my car.  Where else in the world can you have that experience?  At one point, we had Joe, Gernold, Brad, Dan Caron, Chuck Taylor and Mike Eegan sitting side by side for a technical Q&A.  Are you kidding me?!  Talk about a brain trust!

I encourage each of you around the world to consider the elements that made this great and seek to do a similar, if smaller event in your region.  You don't have to do everything yourself.  As we have seen over and over, Pagoda owners are hungry for knowledge and generous in their sharing.  If you want advice on how to do it, those of us with PUB experience are ready and willing.

I too want to thank Joe for yet another great PUB and for allowing the mob that we are to descend upon his place yet again.  Also thanks to Alfred (I'll bring some Riesling next time), Mike and Alex (love the colour combination) for all the hard work in putting this event together.  It was a fantastic weekend and I have so much new info in my head right now I don't know what to work on first.

My wife has all the pictures so I will post once I get them off her Ipad.
