We were going to do dry ice blasting to the underside of my car but couldn't find anyone in the area.

Hauser,
I am surprised that Gernold could not do it himself. A few years back Tom Colitt rented some equipment and did it on a client's car:

I think dry ice is the way to go, no residue or nasty mess to clean up.  If memory serves,  it took several gallons of mineral spirits for the steam to loosen it all.  It was almost a two day job.  The end result turned out quite nice.

I am surprised that Gernold could not do it himself.

Tom is one of the largest cities in the world, LA. Gernold is in a tiny rural community, and the nearby "big city" of Portland has just 70,000 residents. He'd probably have to go to the Boston area (3 hour drive) to find dry ice blasting equipment!

I have to admit, even after being in this business for 36 years, I'd never heard of this technique until last week.
