The first MB car I bought was a 1956 190SL back in Oct. 1977.  Not an easy car to restore back then.

Already an member of the 190 forum. I cannot image trying to restore a car a complex as a  W121 without the internet and these hugely valuable forums.
Dr Benz, that must have been a real challenge.
I restored a '30 Austin Seven, and a 23 Chev Tourer back in the pre-internet days but have little recollection of how I did it. Small clubs of local enthusiasts where the only resource bad then.

We are blessed with so many wonderful resources now days.

On last count, I am a member 13 forums.
Typ901 Porsche Forum, Early 911S Forum, Pelicans Porsche 911, W113 and W121 forums, DDK, PFA, W113 Org, OzBenz, Benz World, Mercedes Heritage, MB USA. R230 and Aston Matin Owners club.

I am sure other are involved in many more. Would make in interesting thread.

I was 22 when I bought that car and it took me over 4 years to get it back on the road. I had few mechanical car skills, no one to ask questions, and a very rough and rusty car. If it were not for the help I received from Joe A. that car would never have seen the road and I'm sure I wouldn't be here right now.

Funny how small interconnecting decisions put you in places that you would never expect.  :)

I'm with Naj! I read only two, including this one (the other is for my Land Rover) and together they're a pair of time thieves. I couldn't imagine having to read more. (Although I'd love the excuse so to do).
