Pagodas in the movies

We watched an excellent movie last night on rented video, "The Unfaithful Wife (La femme infidele)", directed by Claude Chabrol. The movie was made in 1968, and is French with subtitles. The protagonist's mother, near the beginning of the movie, leaves his house in her white Pagoda, top down. I would recommend the movie without the car, but it is a nice addition.
Maybe if the wife had the car instead of the mother, there'd be no need to make the movie!

Another good movie is The Life and Death of Peter Sellers. We just watched it last night. Great if you like classic British cars. Of course the higlight of the film is when Brit Ekland's character makes a very dramatic exit in a silver Pagoda. A nice Teutonic touch considering she had the choice of an E type Jag and a Bentley.

Just spotted a 113 in the movie Body Double. It's in the car wreck scene near the end. It'snot in the wreck, just waiting at the scene.

My wife saw an ad for the The Laughing Policeman and thought there was a Pagoda in it.  We saw the movie last night, and sure enough she was right, there is even a brief chase scene involving said Pagoda (white with white hardtop).  Lots of tire squealing and vrooming, it sounded pretty good!

It's not a great movie, but is tolerable.  Made in 1973, crazed killer/good cop seeking redemption for past failure/bad cop genre.  I think I also spotted the rear end of a 190 SL in the distant background of one shot.

The wife and I saw "Jack of Diamonds" on Turner Classic Movies the other night. It was made in 1967 and starred George Hamilton and Joseph Cotten. It was probably near the end of the movie careers of both actors, and while Cotten looked bored and bemused, Hamilton looked positively pale. He was smart to divert his savings from acting lessons to tanning ointments, to be sure.
This was the first time the movie has been shown on tv, and it will probably be the last.
George and Joseph were living in Europe and drove to Switzerland, to ski, in a Mercedes sedan, and I thought to myself "Wouldn't it be wonderful to see a 113 with a ski rack in a movie?" Such was not to be in this movie, alas. Later in the movie, though, George must make a run to the airport, and he ends up driving his other car, a red 113. The model plate was never displayed, so I don't know the model. I did notice, though, that the antenna did not descend when the car was turned off, and thought that strange.

My wife & I saw it, too, and it wasn't so bad!  Just not in the same league as The Italian Job or It Takes A Thief...  The red 230/250SL shows up near the end of the show also, in caravan with the sedan, after the whole gang returns all the stolen goods and heads off into the sunset.

"The Intersection" for Richard Gere also has one on a skid at the start at the movie and inside and at the finish. It is very sad movie for car and him. I cry for him.

I think there is at least one other thread about Pagodas in movies.  Anyway, in the 1966 classic Gran Prix there is a Pagoda in the background in one scene. In the movie Hopscotch, Glenda Jackson drives a red one around Salzberg.

Many Pagodas have a manually operated antenna.

Another "famous" french movie is featuring a pagoda : "Les demoiselles de Rochefort", a film by Jacques Demy, in which you would also find George Chakiris, Gene Kelly, and, of course, Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac...

The movie Hoax with Richard Gere has a blue w113 in the begining when he is picking up his 220SE convetible at the dealer. I think the 220Se is a 67' anybody else know for sure. It is one sweet ride, he drives it throughout the movie.

The recent film The Last King of Scotland, starring Forrest Whittaker features a pagoda given as a gift from dictator Idi Amin (Whittaker) to his doctor. The car is in a number of scenes.

Yes the destruction of that car was very sad.  I did enjoy watching the spirited driving and the rev counter in action.

There is also a Pagoda prominently featured in 2004's 'A Door in the Floor' starring Jeff Bridges and Kim Bassinger. The 280 sl appears in a number of scenes being driven by Kim Bassinger. The Film is based on the novel 'A Widow for One Year' by John Irving.

Just viewed the movie "Romance" a 1999 French film with a very nice white W113, with a jump seat. I'm not sure of the exact model, Caroline Ducey, the female lead kind of stole the show. It's French with English subtitles. She cruises around Paris in it quite often in the movie.

there is a great pagoda in "Wah Wah"
it is the movie about Richard E Grant's childhood in Swaziland in the 60's.
 the best part is how much joy the characters exhibit about driving it.
