W111 seat slide trim pieces
« on: November 12, 2015, 21:13:03 »
Does any one have pictures or better yet have parts to sell? According to the EPC, # 108 919 20 (10)(19)(20) 09 parts should cover the front seat slide at the rear mount. The rear mount attaches to the floor and then has a 4" tower to attaches to the seat slide. Is there a chrome cover for this tower as seen from the back seat? My coupe does not have this and curious if it was ever installed?

I do have the chrome trim pieces on the front outer mounts.

Thanks.

Here is a picture from the EPC. It is #304 and is on the back of the seat glide. Kind of a "U" shaped piece.

Thanks.

Wallace,

They are made of  plastic, covered with vinyl/leather.
The front ones are as you stated are chrome pieces held in place by a white rubber band with a
small hook. The rear ones just snap in place. Being a part also found on most 108 cars I assume to source a set wouldn't
be too difficult, if not let me know and I will look for a set I should have somewhere.

Thanks for the info Hans! I just knew there had to be something there. It is so plain and ugly not keeping with the rest of the car. If you have any pictures, I would be grateful. I will see about getting some parts here in the US.

Regarding the front chrome piece. Is the hook and rubber band the #288 in the parts diagram? That is the piece just about the chrome trim part. Mine does not have that either and just floats back and forth when you adjust the seat.

Thanks again.

I'm trying to attach a photo I found of the elastic band that keeps the chrome track cover in place.
See if it work

YES!!!!! Perfect. That should be #111-910-50-64. I've got two coming. That even looks like the picture in the EPC.

Now if I can find the covers for the rear.

Thank you very much.

From the Classic Center but my understanding is that they had very few left. Another NLA as we speak I am afraid.

Sorry. If you have your old ones, should be easy to fashion a new elastic part to it. Mine never had them when I bought it.

An update to this:

The elastic straps that I bought were apparently old and the rubber bands eventually broke. I did find some new bands that are EPDM and Ozone and UV resistant so should last a while.

Concerning the slide covers. I did find a few parts from a W108 sedan and a couple of those fit my later W111. None of the W108 driver's side work as that is completely different from a W111 car. The passenger seems to be similar to a later W111. So from the (2) plastic parts I was able to make a complete set for my '68 W111. See attached. The originals are plastic and I made a paper template from those. My new ones are 22 gauge galvanized sheet metal. From here, I will cover them in leather and know one will know. The parts on the left are for the outer rail and on the right, the inner rail. The parts on the driver and passenger are just mirror images of each other.

Not sure if these will fit the earlier W111 220SE and 250SE seats. They should fit the all 280SE seats however. They should fit the W108 passenger, but not the driver's side. I would be curious if someone with an earlier W111 car could determine if these would work? I can scan the templates and send them. And if anyone would like to attempt this themselves, let me know and I will send the templates.
