Temperature gauge sensor
« on: December 24, 2015, 17:20:41 »
I have just removed my temp gauge and sent it off for an exchange. The previous owner had for some reason cut sensor tube and coiled it up hence i have no idea where the sensor goes into the engine as there is no specific mention in the manual. There is no obvious plug in the head or block, can someone point me in the right direction as to where it is, i,m assuming it may be near the thermostat ?
The model is a left hand drive 1969 280.
Merry Christmas to one and all.

Happy Christmas.

Look for this little pod on the left of the cylinder head between #2 and #3 spark plugs.

The switch with the wires is the TTS.
The other fitting is the temp sensor bulb.

p.s: If its a late '69 engine, this pod may be missing, in which case the sensor will be between #4 and #5 spark plugs.

If you are buying a replacement temp gage, you may want to wait till you get your new one. There will be coolant loss when you take of the bulb.

Hi, Ray,

Can only tell from the VIN# or Engine #.

TTS = thermo time switch. Has 2 wires on it.
