Carpet Replacement

I am preparing to replace my carpeting and need advise on how to remove the soft top boot lid release handle. This is the chrome handle on the side portion of the rear bulkhead, behind the drivers (left) seat.

I just used a 10mm wrench and took off the nut on the end of the handle in the boot compartement. Dont close the lid as I did and find out you cant get the handle realigned and the hatch wont open. Things will only get tricky if that happens. Also remember the order of assembly, or as I did you will get it back together and realise you forgot the plasic ring that goes on the handle first. Nothing to it the second time around.

As foolish as it sounds, I never checked inside the soft top compartment for a way to unbolt the handle.
