Removing the back off the clock

Hi everyone,
the clock is out of my instrument panel and on my kitchen counter. I have (thanks to the help of a buddy with sharper skills than mine) removed the 3 small nuts off the back and pried up a couple of things. Problem: as I pull the white plastic housing away, one of the 3 electrical contacts is stuck. The photo shows what's going on, I hope.

Can anyone suggest why the housing is not coming cleanly off?

It's been a long while since I had the clock apart, but I think I recall that the back is sort of sealed in place by what seemed to be a melted piece of plastic, so a sort of tamper seal. I think you need to break that seal to get the clock back off. Does that make sense?

UPDATE - I can now see your pic. It looks like the back is almost off, so ignore my last comment. I recall I had to use a little wet and dry on the contacts to get the back off. Try that.

I'm sure someone who has done this job more recently will come along soon.

The third lug (for the panel light) remains on the plastic housing. the wire on the inside is just barely long enough to get the cover off. it is a tight stretch.

So if I succeed at getting the back off the clock, will the white plastic housing still be attached via the brown wire? With one of the 3 plug terminals still fixed to the back?
I don't want to pull so hard that the wire rips out of some inaccessible place.
