Nice...  OK, so now since it was your fault it doesn't work anymore, you're supposed to replace it FOC for your customer, I suppose.. ::)

Um... Maybe I missing something. Why is there an electrical splice connector on the gauge capillary tube?

To be fair to the customer, once I showed him the evidence he was honest enough to confess that he probably never looked at the temp gauge!!

Now the gauge will be repaired and the car will come back for an overheating problem...

That's still not honest enough. How come he started looking at it now? He just gave it a shot.

We had the opposite experience.  I was working at a shop in Duluth Minnesota and we had a W107 that was just sort of hanging around under a cover waiting for some parts.  When we uncovered the car we discovered a dent in the trunk lid (boot lid) that we were sure was not there before so the owner of the shop removed the lid and sent it to the body shop for repairs.  The owner arrives to pick the car up, he walks behind it and says "You fixed the dent."
