Malc, you still have the early type data card (the layout changed pretty often). Your data card is explained on this website, there for a 190SL:

Malc,
You have the same format Data Card as I do.  Do you know where on your car to find your axle numbers, steering number, etc.?  I can help there.

I think built into the number "2219301" there is a code that determines the country of destination.  That would be interesting to know.
The "050" code is your paint code (body/hardtop).
The "40/1" code is your bucket seats.
The "210" code is your leather color.
The "720" code is your soft top color.
For the tires, the "Phau (a with umlaut)" is probably Pheo for Pheonix, the tire brand name.

actually, the order no. should have eight digits. In your case, probably the first digit (where you show a dash) should be a 4. If this is correct, then the next three digits, 221, identify the ordering MB dealer as Koeln / Cologne, Germany.

This is starting to make me believe in Karma. I have known somebody who lives in Koln since 1974 when I went on a school exchange trip!!!
THey live, excuse the spelling on SiebenGeberstallee and there is an MB dealer just down the road...

THanks to all for your help, wonderful!
