Hi, i'm finally a member of this forum. I recently bought an 230sl from 1963. The car has been driven less than 300 kilometers the last 15 years and is in need of som love. I've searched the forum and found some things that i should start with. If you have more tips of what i should do before taking it out on the road I would be glad if you post a link or write what i missed.

1st problem.
The gear lever is completly loose and i found in some other threads that i need to replace a number of bushings etc. My car is a manual and I'm not sure which parts i should order. Does anyone have a link to where i should order this kind of parts? I live in Sweden if that matters.

2nd problem
The car makes a squeaking sound especially when the engine is cold. i think it comes from the belt since the sound is connected to the Rpm level. Is it best to replace this or are there any other solutions?

This is what I know at the moment. Tomorrow  i will bring the car to my place and will probably find a lot more. i will update the post with pictures of the car and the problems.

Best regards
Jacob

Very welcome to this forum Jacob! You will find a lot of knowledge and support from the members here to enjoy your Pagoda.

Question 1) Check http://www.sl113.org/wiki/TransmissionClutch/Shifter#ManualShifter
Part kits are found, as example, from:
http://www.sls-hh-shop.de/en/230-280SL-W113/25-26-Clutch-4-Speed-Box/26-b-Gearlever-Linkage/Set-shift-linkage-bushings-11-65-Set-shift-linkage-bushings-11-65.html
or http://www.mbclassics.de/index.php?a=3587&lang=eng
or http://oldtimer-ersatzteile24.de/navi.php?a=52503&lang=eng

You will also find parts to your Pagoda at www.niemoeller.de and www.dbdepot.de

All these suppliers are willing to ship to Sweden with short delivery times.

Question 2) Yes, probably the belts. They are stiff by age and after long time of hibernation. Change them all. Can be found in above suppliers, as well.

Tip before wakening up the car: Change all fluids and filters; engine oil and filter, fuel filter, gearbox fluid (ATF for manual), rear axle oil and bleed and change brake fluid. Read more here: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/TuneupOverview/Start

Also, post some info about yourself and a pic of your Pagoda in the New member introduction area http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=529.0

Please spend some time on your brake hydraulics.  15 years of sitting can really cause a lot of harm.  At the very least replace your brake hoses and flush the system with new fluid.
