Should I Have My Head Examined?
« on: October 24, 2004, 17:57:01 »
Here is a 'Before Restoration' shot just after I purchased my '71 and another, the 'During Restoration' shot, taken last Friday. The 'After' picture should be available shortly after the first of the year (now posted).

Can someone reccommend a good institution I might check in to? Yikes!

I must say it didn't look too bad "before"!
So you have a 356 as well? - they look great, how does it compare?

Dave:

I've never even driven my Pagoda (believe it or not). It is in San Diego, CA where I found it and is being restored there. I am pretty confident that it will be alot more car than the 356, but the Porsche is very fun to drive regardless. A photo of the 356 is attached.

I think the Porche is going to be neglected once the Pagoda arrives.  If it is in need of excercise I would be willing to do that for you. You'll have some hard times ahead trying to decide what to drive. :D

Your car looks good in the before photo, why the full cosmetic make over? Now you will not drive the car and it will be come a museum peice in your garage. I am sure you will have to have some one revieve you after you see the cost. Perhaps Douglas can share some of his precription of pills with you to kept the edge off.
Enjoy

If I remember correctly the new color will be white-gray with parchment?  Will it be a two tone car?

Ed,

Your car looked great before, so I am sure it will be perfect when complete!

If possible, can you keep posting pictures of your car as they progress with the work.  I think that we would all enjoy seeing the progress each week...

Thanks!

Hi Ed,

How is your pagoda baby after almost 24 months? IS she back in immaculate pristine condition? Can you post us some photos and let us know about your restoration experience. Mine will be going under the knofe by the end of the month and my restorer said it will take 6 months to take out all the rust, re chrome some pieces etc... I'm going to miss my baby :(

Cheers,

Joel-j

Joel:

Go to www.motoringinvestments.com There you will find some pretty extensive documentation of the restoration of my car along with numerous photographs of final results. I hope the information you find there is beneficial to you in your restoration.

Good luck with your project.

YES!  You should have your head examined!  Your car was gorgeous before you started the restoration. You should be driving it now, rather than taking pictures!

...but I'm sure it will be even better when your done.  *AND* it will be YOUR restored car.
