Door Pockets
« on: April 11, 2016, 22:38:50 »
When my '71's interior was refurbished with new MB Tex (black) the didn't  preserve or reinstall the door pocket/pouches. Two questions: First, is one or the other (plastic pocket/pleated MB Tex pouch) specifically proper for my car or would either do?  Second, any idea how to source or manufacture these? I assume someone could fashion replicas of the fabric pouches, but not the plastic pockets. I've only seen these for sale with full door card sets which I don't need.

Check this Tech Manual link. http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Interior/DoorTrim
Being a 71, If your car is a US spec car it would have had the elastic style pockets. A few of the upholtery vendors on the list should have no problem making just the pockets for you without having to buy a whole door card/panel kit.

Thanks a ton TYler. In fact, I found someone here in SoCal and ordered them today! Very psyched.

Just for everyone's edification - finding pockets was easy. Finding the U shaped metal frames was hard. In fact, it proved impossible. However, my interior guy was able to fabricate them easily enough and they installed great and look very good. Yet another originality point off my car, but much better than doing without or buying an entire door set.
