250 SL 5 Speed

Any sense of values these days? All numbers matching, largely original with one respray. 70k miles, all books and records. #2 Driver condition. Any help much appreciated. I sold my 280SL Automatic 5 years ago and am looking to get another, but really want the ZF 5 Speed this time.

Steven, sounds like a nice car. If it's as nice as your last one, then this should be valuable. Certainly north of $50K. Perhaps as much as 75 or even 80K. I would want to know if the sheet metal is original. I would also want to understand the quality of synchros in the gearbox since it can be tough (though not impossible) to rebuild a 5-spd due to parts availability. That's a big spread, but it's tough to be more specific without more details.

I think ZF upped the availability of spares when they re-issued the 5 speed gearbox but I am sure the prices are astronomical.

Thank you for the input. I am seeing prices for the best 5 speed 250 SLs between $120k and $150k for a one owner, all original paperwork, one perfect respray 50k mile car. Also, one sold at Amelia for $143k earlier this year. Eye-wateringly expensive, no?

For what it's worth, I'm told by a reputable dealer that the highest end of the Pagoda market is in a correction mode right now.
