Firewall pad edging
« on: May 29, 2016, 08:07:33 »
Hi Gents,
I see there are quite a few threads re the firewall pad.  However my question us about the edge.  I would like to improve the finnish of the edge where the backing is visable.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated, black paint, marker pen, black underbody paint, maybe just a little black silicon on the edge?  What have you guys done.
Regards
Chris

That is an older type replacement pad. It is all that was available for some time. The newer pads have the correct diamond patern and the backing is black. Here's a link to one seller that has the newer replacement. They have both left and right hand drive versions.

I've used black Plasti-dip for that purpose a few times. Its a vinyl/rubber based liquid that creates a black rubber surface that seals of the edges and is water/oil etc resistant.
