Tremec/T5 5-spd conversion
« on: May 31, 2016, 02:23:14 »
I hope this doesn't start a feeding frenzy: has anyone researched installation of a Tremec 5-spd in a 113?  The oft-mentioned Getrags are disappearing with the passing of old BMW 5&7 series and new ones will break the bank (mine anyway).  I know the Jag folks are putting them in E-types (not quite sure why, I never had a problem with 'em) and they are everywhere in street rods and such, not to mention Mustangs and Camaros.  If anyone would like to explore the idea, I think I have a 230SL bell housing somewhere in my stuff which I could donate to the cause.  Jon

the T5 is certainly a very good option as indeed good Getrag 265s start being difficult to source. Bud's Benz has developed a straight fit kit based on Raymond's conversion.
